I just wanted to put this on here, that a lot of good is being done through the NAMI organization (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Everybody who knows about this site at the time I write this, already knows about NAMI, but I’m hoping that maybe some stray web surfer somewhere might stumble on this site and learn that there’s help and hope.
NAMI had a fundraising event last week called “NAMI Walks.” it was a good day. There was a food truck, games, calming bottles, and giveaways. It was all to raise awareness in the Wichita area for the mentally unwell and what can be done for us. They call us peers. There were a lot of family members there too. We need the support.
The walk was only about a mile, but it was our first one in Wichita. It used to be held in Topeka for the state, but now we have a local Wichita walk. Apparently we had about 150 people walking, which is fantastic, and we raised over $20k! I am not an official spokesperson for NAMI, but I’ll put their website here just in case somebody needs it. http://www.NAMI.org
This is a good organization with affiliates nationwide. Reach out. I hope everyone is having a calm and steady day. Thanks for reading…
